Summer Camping in a Forest
Duration: 1 day | Distance: 5 km | Price: Free | Aug 18 2025
A short camping trip.
Spent the night in a big forest here in Denmark. Cooked a nice meal and tried out the “stargazer kit” for my X-Mid 2.
Sat around camp all morning drinking coffee, enjoying the forest.
Gear
- It was a very short walk to my camp spot so I just threw together what I needed in a big backpack.
Notes
- Bring wet wipes when camping and cooking in a place with no water source. I always feel greasy with sod and/or food on my hands and equipment.
- The stargazer kit works as expected. This is my first time trying it out and I did not have any problems. But because I have the solid version of the X-Mid, the views aren’t what they could be.
- I tried some simple cooking (hot dogs) on my Bushbox. Went alright but keeping a small fire going is a bit tricky — especially if the wood isn’t completely dry. You really have to stay on top of the fire and feed it small pieces of wood. But at the same time you also don’t want the fire getting too big. I’m learning and this is definitely a skill I’ll have to continue improving.
